How many times in the course of a day or week do you pull up a website to shop, get the news, do your banking or watch a puppy or kitten video? Heck I didn’t even want to look up that statistic as I’m sure it would shock most people. Some websites are easy to navigate while others are hard on the eyes or let’s face it just plain ugly.
When I first created my website, I had been working on the day job’s site and I took what I had learned and applied it to my personal site. Six years ago, it wasn’t that bad but being busy writing, marketing and attending events I didn’t put a lot of time into website maintenance or never gave serious thought to updating the site. Well until one day I logged into it and took a hard look. It was time to refresh the look, make it easier to navigate and basically clean it up.
Before jumping in with both feet I spent time looking at other romance authors’ websites. What did I like, what really called to me, and how did I want my site to look? I started to play with color schemes and images. But before I got too far into the work an old friend was launching a photography business and I volunteered to help her get her site up and running. Amy V Fish Photography was launched. I loved the look and ease of navigation and more importantly, so did Amy.
This inspired me to get cracking, but unlike Amy’s site the images I have are books and book covers. Not quite as stunning, but still lovely. I created a duplicate site to play with and try out ideas until I was satisfied with the new streamlined look.
I’m thrilled to say it has been published and moving forward I’ll continue to tweak and improve and not wait six years to make changes.

Until next time,
I wish you happiness.
